An invitation for Floating the Apple to the annual row around Manhattan with NYC Swims, a group of swimmers and their safety boats and kayaks.
From Pier 40, West Houston Street, at 7am and down to the Battery for the event’s 8:30 am start, sharing the Hudson with plenty of space for ocean liners too.

The swimmers jump in at the Battery, then up the East River, a heat wave by 9 am, but plenty of current to carry under the 59th Street Bridge, past the burned-out 90th Street Pier, and up the Harlem for a few leisurely stops.
Around Spuyten Duyvil and into the Hudson, the wind picked up, rowers concentrate but arrive back at Pier 40, on schedule, eight hours later.
